“Into the Woods” blends five of Grimms’ fairy tales with an original story of a childless Baker and his Wife, who attempt to reverse a curse on their family in order to have a child.

The original production of “Into the Woods” opened at the Martin Beck on Nov 5, 1987 under the auspices of Heidi Landesman, Rocco Landesman & Rick Steiner, among others. James Lapine directed a cast which included Bernadette Peters, Tom Aldredge, Chip Zien, Joanna Gleason, Kay McClelland & Merle Louise.
