“Copenhagen” is inspired by the disastrous 1941 meeting between the German nuclear physicist, Werner Heisenberg, and his Danish counterpart, Niels Bohr, long-time friends whose work together had opened the way to the atomic age, but who were by then on opposite sides of World War II.
