Breaking The Binary Theatre to Present One-Night-Only Concert Of “The Drowsy Chaperone” At Carnegie Hall

On the heels of Breaking the Binary Theatre’s third  anniversary, founder George Strus has announced that the organization’s fourth annual Breaking the Binary Theatre Festival will kick off with a one-night-only concert of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE at the Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall on Mon October 20th at 8:00 PM featuring a star-studded all-trans and non-binary cast. Directed by TL Morgan Lee, the cast will include Laverne Cox as ‘The Drowsy Chaperone,’ Joslyn Defreece as ‘Underling,’ Alex Newell as ‘Janet Van De Graaf,’ Peppermint as ‘Mrs. Tottendale,’ Jonathan Van Ness as ‘Man in Chair,’ and Betty Who as ‘Robert Martin.’ All net profits from the concert will benefit Breaking the Binary Theatre, Trans Lifeline, and Black Trans Liberation.  The Drowsy Chaperone features music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison and book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar.
