The Public's Under the Radar Festival Begins Performances

The Public Theater (Oskar Eustis, Artistic Dir; Patrick Willingham, Exec Dir) began performances for the 18th annual UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL (UTR) on Wed January 4. The festival returns to in-person performances after three years at The Public Theater’s flagship building at Astor Place and five partner venues: Brooklyn Academy of Music, Chelsea Factory, La MaMa, the New York Public Library, and NYU Skirball Center. Curated by UTR Festival Director Mark Russell, the 19-day festival will feature 36 artists and companies from across the U.S. and around the world, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Hungary, Norway, Venezuela, and the U.K. The festival will also include the return of Under the Radar + Joe’s Pub: In Concert with performances by Migguel Anggelo, Eszter Balint, Salty Brine, Negin Farsad, and Julian Fleisher; the INCOMING! works-in-process series featuring projects by Devised Theater Working Group artists; and the Under the Radar Professional Symposium on January 12-13. The festival will include "seven methods of killing kylie jenner" (Jan 10-15, 17-22) by Jasmine Lee-Jones produced by The Royal Court Theatre in association with Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company; "Our Country" (Jan 10, 13-14, 19-22), Created by Annie Saunders and Becca Wolff;  "Otto Frank" (Jan 12-13, 15, 18, 21-22) created and performed by Roger Guenveur Smith;  "Your Sexts Are Shit: Older Better Letters" (Jan 11, 13-15) written and performed by Rachel Mars. The full performance calendar including performances at Joe's Pub and the Partner Venues and ticket details can be found at publictheater.org.
