The 4th annual Chita Rivera Awards will take place on Mon June 20 at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place) it was announced by Joe Lanteri, Founder and Executive Director of the New York City Dance Alliance Foundation, Inc. Lanteri produces in conjunction with Patricia Watt. This year’s cut off for Chita Rivera Awards consideration is Sunday, May 1, and the nominations will be announced on May 17. Carrying the namesake of one of the great dance icons of the American musical theater, the mission of the Chita Rivera Awards is to celebrate dance and choreographic excellence - past, present and future. Joel Gre will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Honorees of the Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theater Award, and Ambassador For The Arts Award as well as when tickets go on sale will be announced in the coming weeks.
