Garber, Crowley, Deavere Smith & Menken lead Theater Hall of Fame's 50th Anniversary Inductees

The American Theater Hall of Fame has announced the 50th Anniversary/2021 Inductees. They are actor Victor Garber, actor/playwright Anna Deavere Smith, composer Alan Menken, set designer Bob Crowley, actor/singer Leslie Uggams and posthumously, director Gerald Freedman.  Founded in 1971 at the Gershwin Theatre by James M Nederlander, Earl Blackwell and Gerard Oestreicher, the American Theater Hall of Fame annually honors Lifetime Achievement in the American Theater. To be eligible for the ballot, the theater professional must have 25 years on Broadway and 5 major productions or Lifetime  Achievement in Regional Theater. The ballot has 40 nominees in 10 categories. The 250 voters are past Hall of Fame inductees as well as the American Theater Critics Association. The 50th Anniversary Ceremony and Gala Reception will be presented on Mon Nov 15 at 7:30 PM in the  North and South Rotundas of  the  Gershwin.
