AR Gurney Memorial Set for 9/12 at the Music Box

Playwright AR Gurney, who passed away on June 13th of this year, will be honored at a memorial service on Tues Sept 12th at 1:30 PM, at The Music Box located at 239 West 45th St. Jim Simpson, founder, and Carol Ostrow, Producing Director of The Flea Theater, produced ten world premieres by the much beloved playwright and were asked by the family to produce the service.  They have gathered many of Gurney’s favorite actors and directors to participate. Also included will be members of The Bat Theater Company, The Flea’s resident company of actors, for whom Gurney wrote four of his plays, including Two Class Acts, the last of his plays produced. A limited number of seats for the memorial will be available to general public on a first-come, first served basis. Doors will open at 1:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be sent to The Flea Theater, 20 Thomas Street, New York, NY 10007.
